Quick, cue the Canadian National Anthem.
A few e-facts regarding our friends to the north. Currently, the online population in Canada is approaching 23 million people, representing over 2/3rd’s of the country. It’s estimated that by 2012, more than 25 million people (or 72.7% of the population) will be online. Obviously, this represents an attractive target. Which is why for the past seven years, we’ve devoted a tremendous amount of energy and resources helping advertisers reach both English and French-speaking prospects through a variety of ways: RON (Run-of-Network), ROC (Run-of-Channel) and Behavioral Targeting and Contextual Targeting, just to name a few.
We work (or have worked) with virtually every ad agency and boutique shop from Montreal to Vancouver. And let’s not forget about Toronto, where we also enjoy a significant presence. Our Canadian client roster is second to none, and includes such titans of industry as Mercedes-Benz, Telus, ING, General Motors, Montreal Tourism, Capital One, Primus, HSBC, Tourism BC, Canadian Tourism Commission, P&G, and Bell. (We could keep going, but that might be misconstrued as bragging).
Naturally, our extensive experience in this country has taught us a few things. Chief among those being that Canadian online users differ significantly from those in other countries. For instance, 59% of adults in Canada avoid online ads either frequently or occasionally. This is the highest score for any major media channel. Canadian users also spend more time on social networks and view more pages than those in other countries. Valuable information to have when it comes to targeting, eh?
And now a word from the Network.
Just how big is said network? Let’s just say that each day we connect our clients to more than 5,500 different websites. These are grouped into 21 content channels and 120 sub channels (pretty impressive, even if we do say so ourselves). So whether you want your message going out to a widespread or highly specialized audience, we’ve got you covered. Specifically, with national, regional, and local results.
The cold (after all it is Canada) hard facts regarding the monthly Canadian breakdown: 12MM Unique Users, and a Reach of 52%
Here’s what it looks like broken out by Province: Ontario- 42%, Quebec-18%, Alberta-25%, and BC-15%
And finally, the many different ways to go about your targeting: Day of week, Major ISP, Browser , Domain, Operating System, Hour of Day, Country, Area Code, and last but not least, State/Province.
